I'm having a bit of trouble contacting Roxy. I was sure she was not that far behind me when we were getting to town, and her Pokemon came in with us.

[Concerned. Very much concerned. She's even in the process of backtracking to see if she just got distracted or fell asleep or anything.]

Her eggs both hatched as well, so I know she will want to see them! Maybe her phone is broke, with the response I keep getting..

[John listens to Jane's message, then attempts to contact Roxy. Yup. There's that old familiar error message. Sigh. This is never a fun conversation, and the fact that it's with Jane only makes it that much worse. But she deserves to know.]

Any chance you're still in the hotel?

No, not just yet. We're looking along the way we came in, just in case she fell asleep or.. or something. [With how she sounds, the results are pretty obvious.]

Mmm...alright. With Jake, I'm guessing?

[He knows they won't find her, and judging by Jane's tone, he's pretty sure she's beginning to realize this too. But if looking is what helps her cope, John's not going to stop her. He'll explain all this before the day is over, but he's not going to rush it.]

Well, when you guys get back if you want to come over to Rose and I's room for a bit, you are more than welcome to. I can make tea or hot chocolate.

[Yes, warm drinks are good for this sort of thing.]

Yes, Aradia is helping to.

[Slowly, she's figuring it out. The pieces are rather plainly in sight and she's trying to push right through it and... Johto doesn't have any of that. Quietly, she nods, before she speaks up after realizing her nod isn't visible.]

Right, thank you. I will.. likely be there soon.

[And true to his word, he will. Whether it take Jane five minutes or fifty five or even an hour, he's not going anywhere. Though dammit where did Rose put all her tea? Gotta be around here somewhere...]

[It's nearly an hour later that there is a very quiet knock on John's door.]

[By then, he's given up looking for the tea and is instead working on mixing up some cocoa. He figures Jane can't be much longer and if nothing else, he can have it ready to pop in the microwave. Because of this, however, he unfortunately misses the knock. Luckily, Casey's hearing is superb, so she hops up from her place on the couch and skitters over to the door, pulling it open. No, she has no concept of how dangerous this might be but luckily it's just Jane. John really should teach her some more discretion though.]

[There's only one downside to this for Jane though. Unfortunately, she has to deal with the standard Casey greeting of an excited hug. Complete with squeaking, which successfully gets John's attention and draws him out of the kitchen.]

Something wrong Cas-- Oh! You're here! Hold on, I will be out in a minute, just make yourself comfortable. [He disappears back into the kitchen and a moment later there's the sound of a microwave beeping and starting up.]

[The hug is honestly the best reaction Jane has had all day, and on being hugged like that, Jane just hugs back and buries her face in the soft fur.]

[Shhh, it's okay gramma. Casey will hug all the sads away. She is a pro at this by now. Though after a few minutes, she will try to subtly lead her over to the couch.]

[Jane lets her, moving easily and having a seat. Removing her glasses and setting them in her lap, she rubs her eyes a bit; the last thing she wants to do is go and ruin that extra soft fur with snot and tears.]

[It's okay, Jane. Daddy washes and brushes her fur out every night. She can deal with sad boogers. But for now, she will just nuzzle her cheek against Jane's while they wait for John to come back out.]

[Which he does after about three minutes and a beep, a steaming mug in each hand as he makes his way to the couch. Taking a seat on Jane's other side, he sets the mugs down on the table.]

Sorry, I couldn't find where Rose hid the tea. Hot chocolate is better anyway though, am I right?

[Nodding from where her face is still tucked into Casey's fur, she sniffs back a little and sits back enough to try and wipe her face a little cleaner.]

Yes, I do think a bit of hot chocolate will be.. better, right now.

[He smiles softly, almost apologetically as he opens his arms a little bit. Human hug? Will this help?]

[.... Yes, hugs make everything better, even if she certainly can't feel better just yet. Giving Casey a thankful pet, she's going to latch onto John now and tuck her face at his shoulder, holding on tight.]

[John gives her a little squeeze in return before settling for rubbing her back in small circles.]

It'll be okay, Jane. It might not be now, but it will be. If Roxy is anything like Dave, she'll be back before you know it.

I know.. I just can't shake this upset feeling. [Staying put for now, Jane exhales a small laugh out.] It's not as though I'll never see her again, right?

Exactly right! People come and go from this place all the time. It's just...something you have to get used to.

[He sighs, still rubbing her back.]

It's okay to be upset.

[Nodding again, Jane squeezes her arms tight before finally giving John's back some simple rubbing pats.]

It's just silly is all. [Another squeeze, and then she's drawing back and wiping her face a bit.]

What, being upset? Because you're wrong about that. It's not silly at all when it comes to this sort of thing.

It certainly feels a little silly when as good as I know, she could show up tomorrow smashed off her ass and try to show me how she's a vodka unicorn!

...a vodka unicorn?

[Okay, yeah. Gonna have to explain that one.]

She -- [Okay, Jane has to smile a little about this. Lifting her hands to gesture holding a bottle, she brings "it" to her forehead and starts doing an impersonation.]

Jaaaaney! Jaaaaaaaaaane! Look, llllooook! I'm a vodkacorn! Get it, my horn is. A. Vodka bottlllle!!

P...ppfffttt! Oh my god. Really?

Yes! It was the silliest thing and she was so drunk, she was just rolling about on the floor in front of her video camera. I'm sure about ninety percent of the bottle was getting sloshed about, because before we logged off to get some sleep, she opened another bottle!

[He just keeps laughing. That sounds utterly ridiculous, oh my god Roxy.]
